Dr. Townsend graduated from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts where she obtained her degree in chemistry. She received her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, and then completed her pediatric residency at Northwestern-Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, in 1991. She returned to New England to begin pediatric practice and subsequently relocated with her family to Nashville and joined Pediatric Associates in 1999.

Dr. Townsend is board-certified in pediatrics, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a clinical instructor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Professional memberships include the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation.

She is a currently Chief of Pediatrics at Williamson Medical Center.

Dr. Townsend is married with two daughters and resides in Brentwood.
