  • Pediarix is a combination of DTaP, IPV, Hep B given at 2,4, and 6 months
  • DTaP is Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis for children under 7
  • Tdap is Tetanus, Diptheria, and Pertussis for children over 10
  • IPV is polio
  • Hep A is Hepatitis A (In 2006 recommendation changed to include all healthy infants between 12 and 24 months)
  • Hep B is Hepatitis B (Birth dose is optional if low risk)
  • HiB is Haemophilus influenza type b
  • Pneumococcal is pneumococcal conjugate (Prevnar)
  • Rotavirus is rotaviral vaccine (RotaTeq)
  • Varivax is chickenpox/varicella
  • MMR is measles, mumps, rubella
  • Trihibit is a combination of the DTaP and Hib given at 15months.
  • HPV is a vaccine to prevent HPV (Human papilloma virus.) HPV is a cause of cervical cancer/ genital warts. This vaccine has been approved by the FDA for administering to 11 years and up but has not been recommended by the AAP or ACIP/CDC, yet. Gardasil was approved by the FDA in June 2006.
  • Meningococcal is the meningococcal vaccine (Menactra)
