Questions of Safety?

Over 20 studies say NO LINK! Is MMR causing autism or pervasive developmental disorder? Review the studies that say NO! One study looked at over half a million children comparing the time of dose and onset of autism and compared those who did NOT receive MMR - STILL NO LINK! New England Journal of Medicine Vol. 347 No.19

No link to Thimerosal! - When Denmark STOPPED using the mercury containing preservative called Thimerosal the cases of autism increased! Pediatrics Vol. 112 No.3

Cumulative thimerosal exposure in over 25,000 children showed no increase in any pervasive developmental disorder. The same study compared children with NO MMR, one dose MMR, and when the second dose of MMR was introduced to show no link. Pediatrics Vol. 118 No 1.

  • Vaccines used to contain ETHYL not METHYL mercury. METHYLmercury is the one that causes damage to the brain. Cumulative exposure to Methylmercury can produce neurologic and renal damage since it stays in the body for a long time and can cross from the blood to the brain. Some vaccines before 1999 had a related mercury containing product called Ethylmercury (constituent of Thimerosal.) Ethylmercury in vaccines does not stay in the body long periods of time like the concerning methylmercury - it is eliminated from the body much faster. However the guidelines in the late 90s were to limit exposure to all mercury containing products. No link was ever found between thimerosal in vaccines and developmental disorders. Pediatric Associates uses only preservative-free vaccines which have no added thimerosal. For more information see the IOM links below and for studies on thiomerosal:
